A graduate in Electronic Engineering from the Federico II University of Naples, he began his work in the space sector of the then Aeritalia as manager of communication systems and on-board computers for scientific satellites.

Formerly responsible for science projects such as Hipparcos and Integral, he has also worked for projects pertaining to the International Space Station (ISS) in cooperation with NASA and the Italian Space Agency ASI.

Appointed Vice President for Science and Exploration at Thales Alenia Space Italia dealing with the implementation of major European projects such as GOCE, Herschel & Plank, solar system exploration such as: BepiColombo targeting the planet Mercury, the Solar Orbiter project and the Exomars mission to explore the red planet.

Since 2004 Member of the ISEC “International Space Exploration Committee”.
