Ground Segment

The divestment of the Space Shuttle by NASA caused the development of several initiatives, both institutional and private, aimed to the study and the accomplishment of new spatial transport scenarios. Such scenarios manifest themselves, in the first instance, in the definition of means the utilization of which sterns, from an operative stand point, cheaper and more flexible of the previously implemented.

The operational aspects of a spatial transport system are not limited to the elements that effectively perform the flight (flight segment) but encompass also all the on ground elements (ground segment) that allow the monitoring of the mission.

I this domain ALTEC, also considering the expertise gained in the development of programs dedicated to the provision of engineering support to the operations and utilization of the International Space Station, is acquiring significant roles in the design, implementation and management of ground segments in line with the new spatial transport scenarios.
